How to write a travel itinerary you can actually follow
An itinerary is not a wish list with bullet points; it is a schedule. Three things make the difference: door-to-door travel time, an indoor alternative for every outdoor stop, and one departure time per day.
Count door to door, then round up
The walk to the stop, the wait, the ride, the last stretch on foot, the time lost finding the right exit. In a mid-sized European city, fifteen minutes on the map is twenty-five on the street.
Give that travel time its own line in the itinerary. Otherwise the day looks like it fits while half of it is spent in transit.
Every outdoor stop gets an indoor plan B
Choose the alternative calmly at your desk, not in the rain with impatient company. A café, a small museum, a market hall — within ten minutes on foot, or plan B is just more travel time.
One departure time per day
Not 'sometime in the morning' but out the door at 08:10. It is the only time everyone can aim at, and it immediately shows whether the first stop is realistic.
